See vibration with VIBRAVISION

Demonstration of amplified vibration in pipe

In Momentum Technologies we always strive to find simple, targeted and cost-efficient solutions to complex problems. As for most problems within physics and technology (I guess, this is applicable for most problems in life as well) understanding the problem makes it far more easier to find out why there is a problem and what to do about it.

Vibration might often be such a complex problem. Using high speed camera, also small motions not visible to the bare eye can be identified, measured and also reinforced – enabling us to see, and much faster understand the vibration problem.

We in Momentum Technologies are proud to announce that we can provide services based upon video based vibration measurement and analysis: VIBRAVISION. Services that enables us to visualize vibration so it is easier for us to communicate how and why there is vibration, and what to do about it.

In the video above, a video of vibration in a pipe is reinforced. The clip to the right shows how the vibrating pipe is percieved by the bare eye. The clip to the left is reinforced and filtered to show the first natural frequency (133 Hz).

Did I mention that it also works at longer distances – and it allows you to think outside the box with regard to available access?

Do you have a vibration problem where our service VibraVision™ could be a suitable approach? Get in touch! You find contact form and contact details here.

ONS 2018 Exhibitor

Founded in 1974, ONS has developed into a global energy meeting place connecting international suppliers, operating companies and decision makers. ONS takes place every second year in Stavanger, Norway. This year the event is held 27 – 30 August 2018, and the theme is “Innovate”. Momentum Technologies will participate of course! Our stand is located in exhibition … Read moreVisit us at ONS 2018

Vibration isolator calculator

Vicoda elastomeric devices

Vibration isolation can be used to solve two types of problems: To avoid resonance of the machine itself. To limit vibrations from being transmitted to other components (pipes, machines etc.) connected to the same foundation as the machine. Isolators can in many cases also be used to loosen up existing pipe supports in order to … Read moreVibration isolator calculator

Vicoda products

Momentum Technologies can now offer a large range of products for vibration control, base insulation and components for dynamic and static support from the German producers Vicoda and Lisega. The products are well proven in use within industrial plant constructions, onshore and offshore. It is through a cooperation with Steinar H. Sunde, that Momentum Technologies can provide expertise … Read moreA welcome addition!

Support calculator: Calculation of maximum recommended pipe length between supports

Straight pipe with supports

Background A simple support will increase the mechanical stiffness of the pipelines and make it more robust against vibration. This tool is intended to be used as an aid for operational personnel at a process facility for doing a rough estimate of recommended maximum distances between supports. The calculator is not meant to be a … Read moreSupport calculator: Calculation of maximum recommended pipe length between supports

Good vibrations at OTD

Erna Solberg

Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway pays extra good attention when Even Lund and Håvard Johnsen, Momentum Technologies, demonstrates the importance of vibration damping for a safer oil and gas industry. The 18th Offshore Technology Days (OTD), opened today at Sotra in Bergen. Full of expectations, Momentum Technologies, took place at the stand in the … Read moreGood vibrations at OTD

Vibration problems?

Vibrations may be triggered from a variety of sources. When vibrations coincidently match the eigenfrequencies of a structure, resonance occure which can end up in catastrophic result. Understanding and controlling this amplification factor is the key to a safe and healthy process plant. A simple clamp on damper can do the job of reducing over 90% … Read moreVibration problems?
