Brattørbrua is a bridge in Trondheim, which has been in trouble. Recently it was out of operation for several days, due to that a wire went off and a bridge flap came out of position when the bridge was opened.
Momentum caught the bridge on film, with the purpose to look into the dynamic characteristics. In the video you see a video amplification, where motions not visible to the eye are visualized.
Most often we in Momentum Technologies are into the dynamics of pipework, for example assessing piping vibration problems and how to reduce the energy of motion. However, harmonic motions are all around us and with VIBRAVISION, our services for video based vibration measurement and visualization, we can literally look into the dynamics to other type of constructions. Like a couple of tower cranes at a building site here in Trondheim, as we have made in the video above.
In the video you see the original video recording to the left. To the right is the same video recording, but where motion is reinforced – so that we shall be able to see if there is any motion in the crane. At this tim there is vibration in the tower cranes, and we are able to see the dynamic response to the tower cranes during lifting operations.
In Momentum Technologies we always strive to find simple, targeted and cost-efficient solutions to complex problems. As for most problems within physics and technology (I guess, this is applicable for most problems in life as well) understanding the problem makes it far more easier to find out why there is a problem and what to do about it.
Vibration might often be such a complex problem. Using high speed camera, also small motions not visible to the bare eye can be identified, measured and also reinforced – enabling us to see, and much faster understand the vibration problem.
We in Momentum Technologies are proud to announce that we can provide services based upon video based vibration measurement and analysis: VIBRAVISION. Services that enables us to visualize vibration so it is easier for us to communicate how and why there is vibration, and what to do about it.
In the video above, a video of vibration in a pipe is reinforced. The clip to the right shows how the vibrating pipe is percieved by the bare eye. The clip to the left is reinforced and filtered to show the first natural frequency (133 Hz).
Did I mention that it also works at longer distances – and it allows you to think outside the box with regard to available access?
